How To Reset Idle Air Control Valve

Idle air control valves are a common problem on many machines. These valves are used to regulate the amount of air that’s sent to the engine, and they can sometimes get stuck in the closed position. Identification

2. Open the cockpit door and disconnect all cables from the IACV panel.
3. Remove any obstruction from behind or in front of the IACV actuator housing (a piece of wood might work).
4. Pump up the air pressure in the cabin until it reaches 12,500 psi (10,000 kPa). Be sure to hold this pressure for at least five seconds after releasing it to ensure that any residual vacuum is eliminated. This should fix most IACV failures.

Checking the Air Conditioning System

The idler valve controls the amount of air entering and leaving the AC unit. If it becomes clogged, the AC won’t work as efficiently. To reset the idler valve, first turn off the power to the AC unit. Next, use a wrench to loosen the bolts that hold the valve in place. Once loosened, lift up on the valve and pull it out of its housing. Clean any debris that may have accumulated inside the valve with a brush or old toothbrush. Reinstall the valve and tighten all bolts until they are secure. Plug in your AC unit and turn it on to test for proper operation.

Resetting the Idle Air Control Valve
