Lighter socket failure is one of the most common issues that homeowners face. Not only is it inconvenient, but it can also be costly. Here are a few tips on how to replace a lighter socket in your home: 1. Remove the old light socket by unscrewing the screws on the back. Be sure to save any wires or plugs that may have been connected to the light fixture. 2. Unpack the new light socket and remove the packaging materials. You will find screws, a wire connector, and a lightbulb. 3. Install the screws by reversing their direction from where they came from and installing them into the mounting bracket on the wall or ceiling. 4. Connect the wire connector to the light bulb and screw it in place using one of the supplied screws. Make sure that the wire connector is facing away from the light bulb so that it doesn’t get hot during use. 5. Replace the light fixture by screwing it into place using one of the supplied screws. Be sure to check all fittings for tightness before replacing lights altogether.

How to Replace a Cigarette Lighter Socket
When your cigarette lighter socket starts to malfunction, it’s time to replace it. This guide will show you how to remove the old socket and install the new one.
1. Disconnect the power from the lighter by flipping the switch to the off position.
2. Remove the screws that hold the cover in place.
3. Carefully pull off the cover and set it aside.
4. On either side of the lighter, there are two wires attached with a connector. Pry off these connectors by using a screwdriver or small lever tool.
5. On one side of the lighter, you’ll find a metal support arm which attaches to a metal bracket on the wall or ceiling joist (depending on where your socket is located). Unclip this arm from its bracket and set it aside with the connector removed. It’s okay if it falls onto the other side of the lighter; we’ll use this side later on when we replace the socket itself
6. Locate and remove two screws that attach half of the plastic housing to the metal body of the light unit (see picture). The housing should now be able to be rotated away from its body (see picture). You may have to pry up on one end first before rotating – do not force it as this may damage both pieces!
7. If necessary, unscrew another screw at one end of lower housing so that it can be rotated clear of its body (see picture).
