Have you ever tried to remove a button from a rearview mirror? It can be frustrating, especially if the button is stubborn. In this blog post, we will show you how to remove a stubborn button from a rearview mirror with just a little bit of patience and some basic tools.
What you’ll need
To remove a button from the rearview mirror, start by removing the screws that hold it in place. Next, carefully pull the mirror away from the dashboard. You’ll then need to unhook the mirror’s wires and disconnect the electrical connections. Finally, remove the mirror assembly from the car.
How to do it
If you have a CD player in your car and it’s been awhile since you’ve used it, the button may have decayed and become difficult to remove. There are a few ways to do this:
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to pry the button off from the mirror housing using gentle pressure from the front. You may need to use a light touch so as not to detach the mirror itself.
2. If the button is sticking firmly onto the mirror housing, you can try using a sharp knife or razor blade to pierce through the middle of it and then pull it off. Be careful not to nip any wires that may be connected underneath!
3. If all else fails, you can drill through the button and remove it completely with a screwdriver or metal bit. Again, be very careful not to damage any wiring beneath!
Tips for a successful removal
1. If your car has a rearview mirror with a button, you’ll need to remove it before you can do anything else. Push the button inward until it clicks loose from the mounting bracket. Then gently pull the mirror off its mounting bracket.
2. If your car doesn’t have a button, you’ll need to remove the mirror’s screws first. Find them by looking for small, round head screws near the edge of the mirror. Once you’ve found them, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove them.
3. Now you can gently lift and pull the mirror off of its mountings. Be sure to hold onto any wire or cable that comes with the mirror – they can be difficult to get rid of once they’re attached!
