One of the most frustrating things about owning a car is having to deal with a dead battery. No matter how well-maintained your vehicle may be, eventually something will go wrong and you’ll be stranded. Luckily, there are a few tricks you can use to open a Mercedes trunk with a dead battery. Let’s take a look. ###
Preparation
If you find yourself stranded on the side of the road with a dead battery in your Mercedes, don’t despair. Here’s how to open the trunk without a key or fob.
First make sure that your car is in Park. Next, locate the switch next to the front wheel well that opens and closes the trunk. Turn it off (it may be labeled “Trunk” or “Latch/Lock”). Now use a flat object like a screwdriver to pry up on one of the sill plates below the window and pull it toward you. The hinge underneath will pop loose, making opening the trunk much easier. Be careful not to scratch or damage your car while doing this!
Procedure
If your car won’t start, there may be a problem with the battery. If you have a keyless entry system, you can open the car’s trunk with the remote. If you don’t have a keyless entry system, you can use the methods below.
To open the Mercedes trunk using the remote:
1) Make sure that your car is in Park and turn off all ignition locks.
2) Position yourself so that you can see inside the driver’s side door.
3) Insert the key into your ignition and turn it to “On.” This will allow the car’s computer to recognize your presence.
4) Press and hold down the “Remote Start” button on your Mercedes-Benz remote control for three seconds or until red light starts blinking on control. The red light will stay lit until you release the button.
5) Turn off your car’s engine by pressing and holding down its “ignition” button for three seconds or until blue light starts blinking on control.
6) Point your Mercedes-Benz remote control at your car’s trunk and press its “Open” button.
Tips
If your car battery is dead, there are a few things you can do to try and jump start it. If the car has a keyless entry system, you may be able to use the door handle to unlock the car and then open the trunk with the remote. You can also try using a different power source, like a portable battery pack or an AC adapter. If none of these methods work, you may need to call a tow truck or take your car to a mechanic.
